Cabin Renovations

Below is a partial list of the updates and renovations to our Gatlinburg cabin rental:

  • New metal roof (30 lb felt paper and replaced some rotten OSB)
  • Stained entire cabin and decks with Sikkens and painted chinking
  • Replaced rotten chimney (reframed, covered with OSB, and applied stucco stone)
  • Added stackable washer and dryer (where hot water heater used to be located)
  • Removed all flooring (replaced with high quality pine laminate, travertine in the bathrooms, and carpet in the upstairs bedroom)
  • Replaced entire first floor subfloor
  • Removed old kitchen cabinets, had custom pine cabinets with beadboard made (full suspension drawers)
  • New kitchen countertops and new oil rubbed bronze knobs and pulls.
  • New quartz (granite like) vanity tops
  • New custom made bathroom vanities
  • Removed wall between old Jacuzzi tub and toilet
  • Added wall in front of first floor bathroom. New Jacuzzi tub with stacked stone surround (rotated 90 degrees from previous location), toilet rotated 90 degrees from previous location, new 3′x5′ walk in shower with custom honed and filled travertine on walls and floor.
  • Added stacked stone to fireplace, moved mantel.
  • All new bathroom and kitchen fixtures. All oil rubbed bronze and name brand faucets. Including roman jacuzzi tub faucet.
  • Added several GFI and other electrical outlets.
  • New LCD HD TV’s throughout the cabin.
  • Totally reconfigured upstairs bath (flipping the shower/tub combo 90 degrees, moved the toilet, and had a new custom 30″ vanity made with quartz top.
  • Replaced all water lines with new PEX piping.
  • Replaced all interior doors (and added a pocket door) with solid pine 6 panel doors and oil rubbed bronze hardware (hinges and knobs).
  • Replaced old hot water heater.
  • Added a kids hide-a-way in what used to be the “owner’s closet”.
  • Graded land behind cabin to make level for horseshoes, cornhole, firepit, and hammock.
  • Added some new decking.
  • Reinforced deck joists under hot tub.
  • Bought a new hot tub and had a crane remove it from its previous home in The Preserve (Wears Valley).
  • Bought nearly new furniture out of a foreclosure cabin in The Preserve Resort.
  • All new blinds and window coverings.
  • Cleaned up crawl space and covered with visquine.
  • New light fixtures and ceiling fans.
  • Painted interior walls (where tongue and groove wood wasn’t located)
  • Pretty much everything has been replaced or updated on the cabin with the exception of the exterior stud walls (even thought the exterior has been stained and chimney replaced), the floor joists, and the foundation!
